Anatolian Shepherds: Grooming


This breed requires little grooming. The coat needs thorough brushing-out during the twice-a-year shedding seasons. You can get away with little attention the rest of the year. The Anatolian Shepherd is a seasonal, heavy shedder.


Anatolian Shepherds are independent and less eager to please as compared to the other breeds.
They will act if they think there is a threat.
Secure fencing is required.
Best diggers.
Good Guardians.
Some can be dog-aggressive.
Shed profusely, specially in the spring.
Sensitive to anesthesia.


Height: Males 28 – 30 inches, Females 26 – 28 inches
Weight: Males 100 – 150 pounds, Females 90 – 130 pounds
Life span: 10-15 years.
Litter Size: 5 – 10 puppies
Large, rugged and powerful livestock guardian
Neck is thick, powerful and has a slight dewlap
Back is muscular and level.
